Market introduction
Overview:
The Argentine International Textile Machinery Exhibition (Simatex) is the sole textile machinery expo in the Argentine region. Held biennially since its inception in 2002, Simatex has a market that encompasses all Latin American countries, including Uruguay, Bolivia, and Paraguay. Over the course of three days, major manufacturers from around the world gather here to showcase their advanced production equipment to the audience.

The Argentine International Garment Machinery Exhibition (Confemaq) is an unmissable high-quality trade show within the garment machinery and equipment industry. Every two years, leading international manufacturers of garment machinery convene at Confemaq, presenting a wide array of exhibits from pattern design, chalk marking, cutting, sewing, embroidery, ironing, and printing to production software, CAD/CAM, silk screen printing, spare parts, and chemicals. Additionally, the exhibits extend to production software solutions, sewing threads, machine needles, and logistics transportation.

The Argentine International Yarn, Fabric, and Textile Machinery Exhibition (Emitex) stands as the most significant textile exhibition in South America. As the trade show continues to grow, an increasing number of new technologies and products make their appearance. The visitors are primarily decision-makers from garment companies and designers who use the exhibition to stay abreast of the latest industry dynamics and trends, understanding new consumer habits and design concepts, such as garment colors, materials, and production equipment. Messe Frankfurt aims to promote sustainable growth of the trade show, solidifying its position in the region and fostering a healthy commercial development.

In the year 2024, Emitex+Simatex+Confemaq, the three major exhibitions, will be held concurrently. During this time, the trade shows will provide an ideal business platform for exhibitors and buyers to engage in fruitful commercial exchanges.

Exhibition introduction
Market Background:
China is one of Argentina's largest importers of textiles. Within Argentina's textile imports, fabrics and ready-made garments account for 41.6% and 28.3% respectively, while yarn products and fiber products represent 16.2% and 7.4% respectively. According to a report from the Argentine Industrial Economic Research Institute, the importation of clothing in Argentina is still experiencing rapid growth, and the share of clothing produced in China in the Argentine market continues to expand.

Situation of the Argentine Textile Industry:
1. Cotton: Argentina boasts over 15,000 cotton producers, more than 140 processing plants, and 47 cotton yarn manufacturers (including 25 with weaving facilities). In 2021, Argentina's cotton cultivation area was approximately 440,000 hectares, slightly reduced. The production in 2020 was around 300,000 tons, an increase from the previous year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic's impact, the cotton fiber export volume in 2020 decreased by 10.2%, totaling only 91,600 tons. Prices also notably dropped by 30%, resulting in a significant increase in inventory by 20.3%, reaching 701,100 tons. The primary cotton cultivation regions are Chaco Province, Santa Fe Province, and Santiago del Estero Province, with main export markets including Indonesia, Mainland China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Turkey.
2. Wool: Argentina is the world's third-largest wool exporter, housing around 70,000 wool producers, with 51% located in the southern Patagonia region. The nation has approximately 15 million sheep, producing 46,000 tons of wool in 2021, with exports totaling $175 million to 34 countries.
3. Synthetic Fibers: In recent years, Argentine synthetic fiber producers have been adjusting production structures to meet the needs of the Southern Common Market. They've expanded trade with member countries and faced high-quality competition arising from low costs and modern technology. Argentine producers have continued investments and leveraged tariff benefits from regional trade, attracting direct multinational investments into the Argentine market. In 2021, synthetic fiber and yarn production in Argentina reached 30,000 tons.
4. Argentine Clothing Industry Overview: Argentina's clothing industry is primarily composed of small and medium-sized enterprises, with a low entry barrier and diverse sales channels, including malls, outlets, supermarkets, and online shopping. The industry has created over 160,000 job opportunities.
